Lovebugs (Plecia nearctica Hardy) on fennel in my garden.

Yes, they are a nuisance. Washed them off my car today!

But... they are beneficial to the environment and harmless to humans, as they do not bite, sting, or carry diseases.

Posting this to help myself, and anyone else who is interested, cultivate more love for bugs. 

Plants need bugs to survive and we need plants to survive.
